What you'll need
Ingredients
For the brownies
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp espresso powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- 100g chocolate, chopped
For the Halloween decorations
- 50-100g marshmallows
- 1 pack Cadbury chocolate buttons
- 10 candy eyeballs
- 3 orange Halloween Oreos
- Chocolate, thinly sliced into strips for the spider legs
Step by step
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Add the eggs, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl.

Add the espresso powder and mix everything together until well combined, then set aside.

In a separate bowl, combine the hot melted butter and white sugar. Mix well until the sugar has begun to dissolve into the butter.

Pour the melted butter and sugar mixture into the cocoa mixture and stir until smooth and well combined.

Add the plain flour and gently fold it through the mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the brownies soft and fudgy.

Add the chopped chocolate and gently fold it through the brownie batter.

Pour the brownie batter into a lined 8 x 8-inch baking tin and smooth it evenly across the tin. Bake at 180°C for 27-30 minutes, then allow the brownies to cool completely.

Melt the marshmallows until soft and stretchy, then allow them to cool slightly until safe to handle. Pinch a small amount between your fingers and stretch it into thin strands over the cooled brownies to create the spiderweb effect. Continue until the surface is covered.

Place the chocolate buttons around the brownies to create the bodies of the spiders.

Lightly dip the back of each candy eyeball into a little melted marshmallow, then attach two eyes to each chocolate button.

Arrange thin strips of chocolate around each chocolate button to create the spider legs.

Break the orange Halloween Oreos into pieces and scatter them around the brownies to finish the decoration.

Slice the brownies into squares and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
