This notice explains how Made By Lai J uses personal information when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us about privacy.
Who we are
Made By Lai J is operated by Laila Jobbins in the United Kingdom. Laila Jobbins is the controller responsible for the personal information covered by this notice.
For privacy questions or requests, email lai@madebylaij.com.
Information we collect
Our newsletter form asks for your email address, not your name. We also retain subscription information needed to manage your preferences and record your signup, confirmation and unsubscribe status. MailerLite may process technical information associated with the form, such as your IP address and signup time.
If you email us about privacy, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message.
How and why we use your information
We use your email address to send the new recipes, cosy bakes and Made By Lai J updates you subscribe to. Our lawful basis for sending these emails is your consent. Subscribing is optional, and you can browse our recipes without subscribing.
We use privacy enquiries and relevant records to respond to requests and meet our data protection obligations. Our lawful basis for this processing is compliance with legal obligations. Where we retain a minimal record to prevent unwanted future emails, we rely on our legitimate interest in respecting your preferences.
MailerLite and sharing information
We use MailerLite to collect subscriptions, store our mailing list and deliver newsletters. MailerLite processes subscriber information on our behalf under its data processing agreement, using service providers where necessary. We do not sell our mailing list.
MailerLite states that its data storage is in the European Union. Its services may also involve processing outside the UK. Applicable transfers are covered by the safeguards described in its data processing agreement, including adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards where required. You can contact us for more information about applicable safeguards.
Read MailerLite’s data processing agreement.
How long we keep information
We keep your active newsletter subscription while you remain subscribed and we continue operating the newsletter. After you unsubscribe, we stop sending marketing emails and retain only information reasonably needed to honour your opt-out, demonstrate consent or deal with legal obligations or disputes. We review these records and remove information when it is no longer needed.
Privacy correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry and meet any associated legal obligations.
Unsubscribing and your rights
You can withdraw your newsletter consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by emailing lai@madebylaij.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
You have the right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing at any time.
Depending on the circumstances, you can also request access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or transfer of your information. Contact us using the email address above to exercise your rights.
Complaints
Please contact us if you have concerns about how we use your information. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
